wow, my life in NY is soon coming to an end. i can't believe i've already lived here for over a year. what's more unbelievable is that i'm graduating in May and i'll have to start taking care of patients on my own! i can't wait to have my RN though, i need to start making money again. at times i miss the simplicity of life in Japan but i don't think i could've done it for a second year. my mental capacity would've declined much further.

i can't wait to leave NY and go back home. recent changes in my life have made me value family much much more and i just need to be back in CA. i've been running away and chasing my globetrotter dreams for the past few years and i think it's about time i go back home. i just wish i had realized this sooner.

wow, haven't written here in a long time. so much has happened since then. don't really have much time anymore. i've already moved back here from japan sometimes i wish i stayed an extra year.

July
- went to Okinawa with one of my japanese friends. we picked one of the most deserted islands, only 1000 ppl for the whole island, so we barely ran into more than 5 ppl a day during the time we were there. that made it kinda boring cuz we didn't really meet any ppl. surely one of the most tiring vacations i'd ever been on cuz all we did were activities: kayaking, snorkeling, night kayaking, hiking, etc. i can't say much for okinawan food cuz we didn't eat much while we were there, surprisingly, since we were doing so much exercise.

- family came late july and we toured all over japan, from kumamoto up to tokyo.

i'll post pics sometime.

got back to the US early august, hung out for a while, but now it's busy busy busy. applications and working and moving. i miss my house and cheap rent in japan. i have a nice studio now but i'm paying 3.5x more for it.

if u'r still in japan, i'm jealous of u!

japanese drivers

for all the drivers out there. do u ever get really frustrated when the car in front of you suddenly slows down to slower than a snail's pace when there's no other cars in front of them, only to have that car suddenly flash a turn signal at the last second before they turn? i hate how they do that here! as if a speed limit of barely 25mph on a road in the middle of nowhere that's barely traveled by this small town of 18,000ppl isn't slow enough, they gotta crawl even slower! and why can't they use their turn signals correctly?!? sorry, just frustrated, especially when i was gonna be late for work...

anyway, haven't updated or loaded pics in a while. took a lotta pics today of my students, but i'll upload them later. instead, i'll just post some random ones...

it's a baby cow. it's so cute!

i love how they house the egg vending machines out here
this one's for my friends who had a camera pointing straight at the thing and couldn't take a picture of it. hehe.

my hair!

cut my hair recently. it's less than shoulder length. hasn't been this short in a long time, at least not intentionally. the last time it was this short was when i let the crazy european at jose eber have full reign, in which i ended up with a horrendous haircut... anyway, this time i like it

walked into my class of 6th graders at one of my elementary schools recently. the first thing one of the boys greeted me with was "hey baby!" that reminded me of this other time when another boy ran up to me to ask what oishii was in english. i told him "yummy" and then asked him what he was referring to. he points his finger at me and says "yummy!" where in the world do these kids learn these things?? but i guess they don't do marriage proposals til JHS, right?

haven't updated in such a long time. May has been quite a busy month. it passed so fast! can't believe i have only 2 months left in this country!

didn't do much for Golden Week. went on a long hike from the mountains to a hot spring in my town. the 28K (17mi) hike took a total of 6hrs to do. it wasn't as hard as i expected it to be   it was actually pretty fun to  see the beautiful landscape of this area.

also made another attempt at cooking japanese food - nikujaga. i think it turned out pretty good, considering my friend and i both suck at cooking.

the color may differ a bit, but it looks pretty good, doesn't it? hm, maybe not. it tasted better than it looks tho, i swear!

attended my last Sports Day in japan. this time it was at my jhs. most of it was races, cheers, and pyramids. i think the jhs is more interesting than the elem school ones though, cuz it involves the audience more. i played a game of badminton golf and also participated in a relay. lost though, haha, no surprise.

climbed mt. takachiho recently. as i heard, this mountain is actually a pretty hard climb. not as tall as mt. fuji, but more difficult to climb. the rocks are really slippery and unstable, so going up the mountain in fact took all 4 appendages. going up wasn't so bad though. coming down was the hard part. we were again on all 4s, flipped this time, and whenever i fell, my butt landed on sharp jagged rocks. yeah, it was a bit painful. scratched up my palms too. but the climb was fun. we were rewarded with a beautiful COBALT BLUE LAKE.

beautiful!

had a golf tournament recently. i've played for almost a year now, but i'm still pretty bad. i had 5 mosquito bites, each the size of my palm, itchy as hell, on both my arms, so i couldn't play my best. surprisingly though, i came in #16 out of 28 ppl, so i guess i'm not that bad! i fully expected to come in last!

my golf bag is also red

teachers' volleyball tournament coming up. why do japanese ppl always make me participate in sports i seriously can't play?? grrr. my arms are still visibly bruised from practice a few days ago

random pics...

btw, those who are looking to try this... it's available in one of my inaka bars!

those who ever wondered how those bundles of hay are made...

here's a pic of some elem school kids.

i was told the girl on the left looks like me when i was young. really??

momo-chan's driving! i love the closed eyes look.

my tofu and nagasaki castella (pound cake)

this is a chair. i'm supposed to sit on his head! no a$$ is coming near my Scrump!
